Environmental and Economic Management

Hamster + | BURO & CIE is committed to implementing the most environmentally friendly business practices possible.

Our environmental and ecological policy can be summarized in six key points:

  1. Prioritize the purchase of products containing recycled materials and require complete information from manufacturers on this subject;
  2. Promote these products in our catalogs and on our website;
  3. Adopt green practices and encourage their application within our company;
  4. Market private label Offix products;
  5. Print our main publications on paper that meets recognized environmental certifications (FSC®, PEFC, SFI);
  6. Since June 14, 2021, we have stopped using plastic bags in our stores.

Our Everyday Actions

Green Products

  • Eco-friendly products are clearly identified in our publications and on our website;
  • We offer more than 3,000 eco-friendly products;
  • Eco-friendly products sold by our company must be made of recycled materials or hold a recognized environmental certification.

Transportation Optimization

  • Eliminate additional shipments caused by backorders;
  • Configure delivery routes to optimize transportation time.

These measures allow us to make only necessary deliveries, thereby reducing the number of trucks on the road and lowering both air and noise pollution caused by our activities.

Reusing Boxes in Shipping

  1. We reuse the boxes in which our suppliers send us their products;
  2. Boxes that cannot be reused in this way are recycled;
  3. We use only fully recycled paper to fill boxes for shipping;
  4. Our boxes are made entirely of recycled cardboard and are 100% recyclable after use.

At Hamster + | BURO & CIE, no cardboard ends up in landfills.

Empty Cartridge Recycling Program

  1. We offer an empty ink cartridge recycling program through the Mira Foundation.
  2. 3 simple ways to participate: Visit burocie.ca/mira. This initiative helps Mira train guide dogs.
  3. The contribution of Hamster® customers helps train about 10 guide dogs each year.
