Syllable Counters is an individual game designed for preschool students, targeting the counting of oral syllables in words. Each player counts the oral syllables in words illustrated on cards in order to place them in the correct spots on their game board. To count the syllables, the player uses a vlipou pawn, a little creature that likes to play tricks, and makes it jump into a puddle of mud to dirty Gargotte the monster! The player self-corrects by flipping the card, which reveals the number of syllables in the word (from 1 to 4 syllables).

The game is part of the Gargotte and the Vlipous collection, aimed at preschool and first-grade students, focusing on the development of phonological awareness, specifically awareness of syllables and sounds in words. It includes different materials for four players. A game lasts five to ten minutes, and each player can self-correct, making it suitable for workshop contexts, small-group activities, or individual intervention. A competitive variant for two to four players is also available.
